New To Sailing?

Have you ever spent an afternoon on a friend’s boat and found yourself in awe of the experience for months afterwards? Ever watch the yachts out on the lake on a warm summer’s day and dream about being out there with your family and friends?

While yachting may seem expensive – and possibly even a long way off for many of us – it doesn’t have to be. Yacht Time brings you all the sailing but at a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the effort! We’ll even teach you to sail so you can be out on the water by the summer. Yachting. It’s closer than you think.

Even if you've never sailed before, we can get you the skills you need to be a Yacht Time member this season! We offer an extensive and intensive instruction program designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you’ll need to safely navigate the local waters and enjoy your time with us worry-free. Our experienced and certified instructors will provide a customized training program geared for your whole family. We teach to national standards and beyond so that you can gain certification in Canadian Yachting Association’s Basic Cruising Standard (sailing, navigation and seamanship), VHF radio operation, Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card (PCOC), and Toronto Harbour Licence. You will learn at your own pace through a combination of in-class and on-water sessions and gain the skills and knowledge you need in as little as three weeks!

All Yacht Time members are required to go through our orientation program so that you can be totally familiar with the boat and all its systems as well as get some practice sailing and docking. During these orientation sessions, we can identify areas where you might benefit from some additional skills development clinics. Throughout the season, we host these clinics for all our members on topics such as docking, emergency procedures, understanding the weather, advanced sailing, heavy weather sailing, trip planning, navigation and anchoring. While not mandatory, all of our members are encourage to participate in these no-cost sessions.
